The biosphere-atmosphere exchange and global budget of carbonyl sulfide: 2nd international workshop
When: 11.-14. November 2019
Where: Obergurgl University Center, Austria
Dear COS/OCS researchers,
We are happy to announce the second international workshop on the biosphere-atmosphere exchange and global budget of COS. Since the first highly productive workshop in Hyytiälä three years ago, we have seen an immense increase in empirical data, improved process understanding regarding sinks and sources of COS and new technological, data assimilation and modelling developments – providing sufficient reason for discussing recent progress in and future priorities for research in this field.

The program is structured around 4 themes, each covered in a half-day session with a key note talk, short talks/digital poster presentations and plenty of time for discussion. The preliminary suggestions for the themes are:
Theme 1: Ecosystems – leaf, soil and ecosystem COS exchange
Theme 2: Atmospheric composition – remote sensing, anthropogenic contributions, the role of the ocean
Theme 3: Applications – GPP and transpiration estimates, multiple constraints (SIF, isotopologues), modelling
Theme 4: Open theme – collecting miscellaneous topics not covered in the previous themes and synthesis/wrap-up of workshop
Details on the program and instructions for presenters will be updated after registration has been closed and we have a better idea of the nature and content of submitted contributions.
