This week Magnus Bremer (Institute of Geography, University of Innsbruck) used the great weather conditions to do a drone flight (video) with a laser scanner for the 3D reconstruction of canopy structure and a thermal imager. Here the aim is to fuse these data in order to improve remote sensing based modeling of evapotranspiration (picture and movie © Magnus Bremer).

Summer intern David is having fun working at the FAIR forest site!
Yesterday Walter, Albin and Georg hosted a group of forest rangers on excursion who were interested in understanding what is being investigated at the FAIR site.
Congratulations to Katharina Scholz who today successfully defended her PhD thesis on “The carbon balance of an alpine grassland and a mountain lake in complex topography: ecological insights and micro meteorological insights”!
