Ines Bamberger successfully defended her PhD thesis on 9 March – congratulations! Ines will now move to ETH Grassland Science (Prof. Nina Buchmann) in Zürich for a PostDoc position.
Lukas was awarded the Outstanding Student Poster Award 2011 by the EGU for his poster on “Acetone and acetaldehyde exchange above a managed temperate mountain grassland”.
Albin is presently on a short-term scientific mission with Prof. Gerrit Schoups at the TU Delft financed by the COST action ABBA. The objective of this week-long stay is to collaborate on the Bayesian calibration of our grassland carbon cycling model.
Felix Spielmann is joining the group as a Master student and will be conducting VOC leaf gas exchange measurements on mountain grassland plant species in collaboration with Prof. Jörg-Peter Schnitzler at the Helmholtz Zentrum München.

We received notice that the Tyrolean Science Fund approved our project “Fluxes of biogenic oxygenated volatile organic compounds between mountain grassland ecosystems and the atmosphere” (2012-2013).
Petra Schattanek and Sabrina Obwegeser will join the group as Master students, supervised jointly with Univ. Prof. Dr. Stefan Mayer (Institute of Botany), within the frame of the StartClim project “Effects of soil drying on transpiration of Austrian tree species”. Christoph will switch to this project in January 2012 as well.
